Windows smashed on two police cruisers in Hamilton

A man is facing several charges after someone smashed the windows on two police cruisers in Hamilton.

It happened shortly after midnight on Monday, outside of Hamilton Police Headquarters on King William St.

An investigation led police to believe a man who had visited the station earlier in the evening and caused a disturbance was responsible for the incident.

“The male left the building and returned to smash out windows to two police cruisers,” said Hamilton police in a news release.

The man was located a short time later in a bus shelter at King St. East and John St. North.

He was arrested without incident.

Police say the man was in possession of an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

“He was taken into police custody where it was discovered he was bound by a probation order,” said police.

A 34-year-old man, of no fixed address, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, fail to comply with probation order and two counts of mischief.

He is scheduled to appear in court later Monday.
