Blast of winter hits Hamilton, Niagara and GTA

Hamilton, Niagara and the GTA got hit with a blast of winter Thursday and Friday.

Forecasters put the snowfall amount between five and ten centimetres.

City of Hamilton crews say they were prepared for the snowfall and spent the night and early morning plowing the roads, clearing sidewalks and applying de-icing material.

The city has also launched its online Plow Tracker, which allows residents to see where maintenance vehicles have been.

Police are reminding residents to drive according to the conditions.

The winter weather advisory ended early Friday morning.

There was a bus cancellation in Halton but no school closures were reported Friday.
