OPP says graffiti cleanup cost roughly $5,000

Ontario Provincial Police in Simcoe are appealing for witnesses after a local school was vandalized with offensive graffiti.

Police were called to St. Joseph’s School on Potts Rd. in Simcoe around 6:38 a.m. Thursday.

An employee discovered the school’s exterior doors and walls had been spray painted with the letters “EGS” and various obscenities. A garbage container on the property was also spray painted with graffiti.

“If someone in the community has any information regarding ‘Easy Ghost Squad’ (EGS) and the way it is depicted and written on the wall of the school, they are being urged to contact investigators,” said Constable Ed Sanchuk, Norfolk County OPP. “These acts of mischief are causing thousands of dollars in clean-up costs. These individuals need to be held responsible for their actions.”

Police are continuing to investigate and officers are reviewing security surveillance footage in an attempt to identify those responsible.
