Germs lurking all about
As we enter cold and flu season, a new report reminds us that germs can lurk in some very common places.
The survey found 71% of gas pump handles and 68% of mailboxes were highly contaminated with sickness causing germs.
These germs were also found on 41% of Automated Teller machine buttons, 43% of escalator rails and 35% of vending machines.
Bacteria and viruses can live on surfaces for up to 2 hours, waiting to be carried onto the next living host.
The best way to avoid illness this winter is to wash your hands often.
