Ontario reports 3,328 cases of COVID-19, 56 deaths

Ontario broke its daily COVID-19 record for the third day in a row on Thursday, reporting 3,328 cases of the virus and 56 deaths.

The new record comes as the province completed 63,858 tests, a huge jump from the 39,210 tests reported on Wednesday.

Ontario is reporting 3,328 cases of #COVID19 and nearly 63,900 tests completed. Locally, there are 888 new cases in Toronto, 431 in Peel, 418 in York Region, 257 in Windsor-Essex County and 194 in Ottawa.

Hamilton

• 6,057 total cases, up 200 from Wednesday**
• 4,446 resolved cases
• 1,386 active cases
• 168 deaths — four new
• 68 patients in hospital

**Hamilton Public Health says Thursday’s numbers are higher because they include some cases from Wednesday, which were not reported because of a labs delay

Halton

• 5,901 total cases, up 95 from Tuesday
• 5,213 resolved cases
• 580 active cases
• 108 deaths — 1 death
• 45 patients in hospital

Niagara

• 3,951 total cases, up 91 from Wednesday
• 2,956 resolved cases
• 853 active cases
• 142 deaths
• 70 patients in hospital

Haldimand-Norfolk

• 898 total cases, up 11 from Wednesday
• 775 resolved cases
• 83 active cases
• 35 deaths — 1 new

Bran

• 891 total cases, up 18 from Wednesday
• 721 resolved cases
• 164 active cases
• 6 deaths
• 4 patients in hospital

Six Nations

• 107 total cases
• 100 resolved cases
• 1 death

There are 1,235 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 across the province. The number of patients in ICU is up to 337 with 210 of those on ventilators.

The death toll is now 4,530 people. Of those, over 61 per cent are residents in long-term care.

The province says a total of 23,502 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered.

Another 2,213 cases have been marked as resolved. Over 85 per cent of the province’s cases are resolved.
