Five people arrested and charged in assault in Port Colborne

A Port Colborne man who was wanted in connection to a violent assault with four others has been arrested, Niagara police say.

Officers were called to a home in the area of Bell St. and Davis St. around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday for a report that a woman had been assaulted.

She was found and treated by paramedics for non-life threatening injuries and was taken to hospital for further treatment.

“The victim’s injuries are related to being assaulted with physical force and with weapons (firearm and stun gun),” police said in a news release.

Police identified six suspects inside a home. Two were arrested leaving the house.

The emergency task unit, K9 unit and crisis negotiators were called. A viewer sent CHCH News video of that interaction.

Officers made three arrests. While executing a search warrant at the home, officers seized a pellet gun and 88 grams of fentanyl, worth about $26,000.

Angie Elizabeth Cirillo, 50, of Port Colborne is facing the following charges:

  • Assault
  • Forcible Confinement
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking

Jamie Laybolt, 33, is facing the following charges:

  • Point Firearm
  • Assault
  • Forcible Confinement

Scott Brady Winfrey, 57, is facing the following charges:

  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
  • Point firearm

April Amanda Deleeuw, 32, of Port Colborne is facing the following charges:

  • Assault
  • Forcible Confinement

Police say one of the suspects managed to leave the house before officers arrived.

Jason Burd, 38, was wanted for assault with a weapon and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Niagara Police say he was arrested just before 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

One of the six people arrested on Wednesday was released without charge.
