Canadians are going to be spending less money this holiday season compared to last year.

According to PwC Canada’s Holiday Outlook report Canadians will spend an average of $1,104 this year, down from the almost $1,600 in 2019.

More than half of respondents to the survey said the pandemic has had a negative impact on their spending capabilities.

While respondents said the biggest proportion of holiday spending would still be on family members, they planned to spend less money on themselves.

The report found online shopping will likely outweigh in-store shopping this year.

The number of people who will choose curbside pick-up this year is up from 13 per cent last year to 33 per cent this year.
