A developing story in Caledonia where road protesters are removing blockades on Highway 6.

They were put up two weeks ago, after OPP officers enforcing a court injunction removed protesters from the McKenzie Meadows development site.

Nine people were arrested at that time and OPP confirm rubber bullets were used.

Following that encounter, several people took the protest to Highway 6.

The blockades began coming down Thursday morning. The main blockade on Argyle St. was being removed in the afternoon.

An OPP spokesperson says the road will need to be inspected and repairs done where needed before it can reopen.

According to the Ministry of Transportation, it will likely be two to three days before it can reopen.
