Hamilton police are investigating after a car fire that started in an Ancaster driveway spread to a home early Friday morning.

Police say the call initially came in about a car fire just before 5 a.m. at a residence on Seneca Drive near Iroquois Avenue.

Crews arrived on scene to find the car fully engulfed in flames in close proximity to the house and as a result the call was updated to a structure fire shortly after 5 a.m.

The homeowner told CHCH News that he saw someone running from the vehicle moments before it burst into flames.

Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control but not before damage was done to the front exterior of the home (Luke Gudgin/CHCH News).
