Hamilton police search for suspect after stabbing of 60-year-old man

Hamilton police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect after an argument led to a 60-year-old man being stabbed Thursday evening.

Officers were called to the area of Melvin Avenue and Bernard Street around 6:30 p.m. for reports of a stabbing.

They say an argument between the suspect and victim escalated into an altercation, ultimately leading to the stabbing.

The injuries sustained by the victim are considered to be non-life threatening.

Shortly after the incident the suspect fled on foot down Melvin Avenue.

The suspect is described as a white man between the ages of 20 and 30-years-old. He was wearing a black hoodie, black sweatpants and a black ski mask at the time of the altercation.

Investigators ask that residents in the area check any surveillance footage between 6 and 6:40 p.m. that evening.
