Weather warnings have gone into effect in several regions across the GTA and surrounding Golden Horseshoe areas this morning as residents face freezing rain, sleet, and strong winds.
Environment Canada has issued a weather warning for Hamilton, Niagara, and Halton regions but for different reasons. Niagara Falls, Welland, and the southern region will see extremely strong, southwesterly winds gusting today and continuing into this evening.
Hamilton is seeing a special weather statement involving heavy rainfall and strong winds. There is a risk of freezing rain in the morning with southwesterly winds gusting up to 90 km/h. Total rainfall amounts are estimated to reach 15 to 25 mm.

Halton Hills, Milton, and Caledon are facing freezing rain conditions. There may be some slight ice build-up in areas, especially over higher terrain. But the freezing rain is expected to transition to normal rain as temperatures continue to climb in the morning.
Environment Canada warns of loose objects being tossed by high winds as well as localized flooding in areas of poor drainage.
