London man wanted in North Bay arrest in St. Catharines with loaded handgun

Niagara police have arrested a London man wanted in North Bay with a loaded handgun in St. Catharines.

On Aug. 16, Niagara police received information from the North Bay Police Service that a wanted individual who is alleged to have committed an armed robbery involving a firearm in North Bay, was believed to be in the Niagara region.

On Aug. 17, at 9:05 a.m., police located and arrested the man in the area of Montebello Park in St. Catharines. A search revealed a loaded Glock 9mm handgun inside a cross-strapped satchel being worn by the man across his torso.

As a result, 26-year-old Joshua Shirley of London is charged with possession of a prohibited device, possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition, possession of a restricted firearm without holding a licence and possession of a firearm, weapon or ammunition contrary to prohibition order.
