Niagara police say there is no active threat to the public or any school in the Niagara region.

This statement comes after officers became aware of a social media post claiming a teenage boy was threatening to stab students.

The post was circulating on social media platforms such as Snapchat and TikTok Wednesday.

Police from the Welland-Port Colborne district and the Cyber Crime Unit are involved in the investigation.

Officers are asking anyone with information regarding the source of the allegation to call 905-688-4111, ext. 1023300.
