Players’ Guild of Hamilton presents new play ‘Love Letters’

After a long hiatus, the Players’ Guild of Hamilton is back in action and ready to welcome guests to their new season starting this week, featuring the play Love Letters.

One of the stars, Diane Brokenshire, joined Bob Cowan on Morning Live to share all of the details about the comedic play that kicks off on Nov. 5.

The play, featuring Brokenshire and Willard Boudreau, follows the story of young Melissa and Andy who start corresponding as children. They read the letters that reflect their relationship over 50 years and perhaps reveal what true love means.

Love Letters opens this Friday as well as Nov. 6, 11, 12, 13, 18, 19 and 20 all at 8 p.m. If you can’t make it to the evening shows, you can watch it at 2 p.m. on Nov. 7, 13 and 20.

While the theatre will now be operating at full capacity, there are a number of health measures in place to reduce the spread of COVID-19 such as proof of full vaccination and mask mandates.

Unlike most plays, Love Letters only has two actors in order to protect the theatre crew and audience members from COVID-19 as well.

“It doesn’t necessitate a huge crew either to build the show or to run it backstage,” Brokenshire said.
