HAPPENING NOW:

Burlington mayor Marianne Meed Ward talked budget, sports infrastructure, Black History Month, and the Mayor’s Award Nominations.
With the recent news confirmed that the Hamilton Bulldogs will be moving to Brantford, the sports facilities in cities are a topic of conversation. The City of Burlington is looking at creating at least three new community centres. One of which, the rebuilding the Skyway Arena which will be an NHL sized rink with a walking track indoors.
This discussion naturally leads into budget discussion and what the 2023 budget will include and how it will affect property taxes.
The mayor is also looking at nominations for the Mayor’s Award. The Mayor’s Award recognizes businesses that excel in promoting equity, inclusion and diversity. If you have a business you know of that deserves recognition, send your nomination into mayor@burlington.ca
Finally, Black History Month continues and there are many events taking place in the city.
