McMaster University says they will be conducting a nuclear safety drill on Oct. 29 in conjunction with the Hamilton Fire Department.
The exercise will take place between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
McMaster says the drill is designed to test the emergency response to a “hypothetical on-campus radiologic incident.”
They add that the exercise will be “held at various locations surrounding the Tandem Accelerator Building and the General Sciences Building.”
Drills like this fall under the university’s responsibility to conduct simulations as part of the McMaster Nuclear Reactor’s 20-year license renewal by the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission which was granted in 2024.
