Voters across Ontario will be heading to the polls Monday to mark the 2026 municipal election.

Candidates for mayor, city councillors and school board trustees will be on the ballot.

Polls are open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

There are still options to vote. To vote online, residents would have received a voter registration letter in September, if that’s an option in their area. That letter outlines next steps and how to make a digital ballot count.

In municipalities that do not offer online voting, electors can bring their voter registration letter to their assigned polling location alongside acceptable identification, such as an Ontario driver’s licence, health card or passport.

Eligible electors who did not receive or bring a voter card can still receive a ballot by presenting an approved piece of identification displaying both their name and address to confirm residency.

Voters unable to attend a polling station can appoint a proxy to vote in person on their behalf. The appointment must be officially certified through the local municipal clerk’s office before the ballot can be cast.
