Welland motorcycle crash leaves two people dead

Niagara police say two people died in a motorcycle crash in Welland.

On Saturday at around 8:20 a.m., officers responded to the area of Ontario Road near Hobson Avenue for a motor vehicle collision.

Upon arriving on scene, investigators located a black Yamaha motorcycle with two occupants that had collided into the side of a black Honda Civic Sedan.

Detectives say despite life-saving efforts, one male occupant was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say a second female occupant was transported to an out-of-region hospital, where she died due to her injuries.

Officers say the driver of the sedan was not injured.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) has taken over the investigation.

Members of the public are asked to review dash camera and video surveillance footage at the time of the incident and contact the police if either vehicle is seen.
