The City of Hamilton is facing a provincial order after a resident of a long-term care home died following a serious medical incident in June.

According to a communication to councillors, a recreational event with a special menu was held at the City-owned Macassa Lodge.

The update says staff did not consult the food services supervisor before serving residents food that did not comply with their nutritional needs.

The Ministry of Long-Term Care report does not specify the person’s cause of death.

The City has been directed to comply with the order before Sept. 18.
