Hamilton Hammers sign goaltender Ryan Fanti, defenceman Ryan Healey

The Hamilton Hammers announced on Sunday that they signed goaltender Ryan Fanti and defenceman Ryan Healey to one-way American Hockey League (AHL) contracts.

Fanti, 26, is a Thunder Bay native who played a key role in the Syracuse Crunch’s run to the Calder Cup Playoffs in the 2025-26 season.

He appeared in 27 games, securing a solid 2.41 goals-against average and a .905 save percentage.

Fanti holds a 17-18-2 record in 43 career AHL appearances split between the Syracuse Crunch and Bakersfield Condors over five seasons.

He also scored a goal for the ECHL’s Fort Wayne Komets during the 2022-23 season.

Before playing professionally, Fanti helped the Bulldogs capture the NCHC championship, earning NCHC Goaltender of the Year honors and NCHC Frozen Faceoff Most Valuable Player recognition.

Healey, 22, is a native of Chicago, Illinois and was traded from the Minnesota Wild to the New York Islanders on June 27.

Wrapping up four seasons at Harvard University, the right-shot defenceman finished the 2025-26 campaign second among team defencemen in scoring with 12 points (four goals, eight assists).

Over his college career, Healey appeared in 130 NCAA games, tallying 55 points which included 19 goals and 36 assists.

During the 2023-24 season, he was named to the All-Ivy League First Team and as a freshman, he earned ECAC All-Rookie Team honours.
