Investigation is underway at Six Nations after Carfentanil was located inside a government building

First Published:

Investigation is underway on Six Nations after Carfentanil was located inside a government building. Fire fighters were called to Sunrise court in Oshweken after speaking with employees from the “Ontario works office”. A building that is home to the learning, earning and parenting program. According to the deputy fire chief, who was on scene with hazmat crews, they were informed that there was a suspicious white powdery substance that wasn’t there the previous day.

Fire advised workers to clear the building and luckily they did. Carfentanil is 100 times more powerful than the synthetic opioid Fentanyl. Public health agencies say the smallest amount can cause an overdose. Police are continuing their investigation. CHCH News contacted Six Nations police and the OPP for a comment but have not received any information at this time.

Its unclear if the drugs were intentionally placed in the office building and if this was a targeted or malicious attack. We’re learning more tonight about the drugs that were found inside a six nations building in Oshweken and how they were identified.

We welcomed in studio the man who police called to analyze the powder found in Six Nations. Chris Andrews, the owner of Canadian Decon Solutions.
