Man charged with sexual assault of teen at Niagara outlets

First Published:

A 24-year-old man has been charged after a teenage girl was sexually assaulted at an outlet mall in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Police launched an investigation earlier this month after they were told a man was approaching young girls at the Outlet Collections of Niagara on Taylor Rd.

Police say an 18-year-old woman said she was sexually assaulted at the mall on May 4.

Salih Sarieyyupoglu, of Niagara Falls, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with sexual assault.

He is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in a St. Catharines court later Wednesday.

“The investigation has not uncovered any links between the actions of the accused and the communities’ concern of human trafficking,” said Niagara police in a news release.

Investigators believe there may be more victims and are urging anyone with information to contact Niagara police at 905-688-4111, select option 3, and dial ext. 9994.
