Hamilton man arrested for stealing booze, beer, and ‘high-end meat’

A 29-year-old man is facing charges after he allegedly stole nearly $1,000 worth of booze, beer, and meat in Hamilton.

Officers were called to the Fortinos on Mall Rd. shortly after 1 p.m. Monday for a shoplifting incident.

Police say a man took six cases of beer and several packages of “high-end meat” from the grocery store.

They say the man fled in a taxi cab after he was confronted by the store’s loss prevention officers.

Investigators say they identified the thief and discovered he made several stops while in the cab including at the LCBO on Mall Rd. where he took several bottles of alcohol.

Shortly after 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, police arrested Mohammed Al-Aani at a home in Hamilton.

He has been charged with two counts each of theft under $5,000, possession stolen property and four counts of fail to comply.

Al-Aani is expected to appear in court later Wednesday.
