Police in York Region say a man has been sentenced to life in prison in a 2022 shooting in Vaughan, Ont., that left two people dead and another injured.

Investigators say officers were called to ATL Lounge the morning of July 23, 2022 and found three people with gunshot wounds. They say Tosin Amos-Arowoshegbe, 25, and Chibueze Momah, 22, died from their injuries while a 20-year-old woman survived.

They say police issued a Canada-wide warrant for 31-year-old Kensworth Alton Francis, of Mississauga, Ont., and in March 2024, he was arrested by U.S. officials in Hartford, Conn.

Police say Francis was later extradited to Canada and charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.

They say that after a jury trial, Francis was found guilty on the murder charges and one count of unlawfully causing bodily harm.

Police say that on Friday, Francis was handed two life sentences with no chance of parole for 25 years and another sentence of eight years imprisonment for unlawfully causing bodily harm, to be served concurrently.
