Fire crews responded to a blaze at a residence Thursday afternoon in Hamilton’s north end that left nobody injured.

Firefighters arrived at the scene around 4:15 p.m. in the area of MacAulay and James streets.

Shawn De Jager, the city’s assistant deputy fire chief, tells CHCH News that first arriving crews quickly brought under control a second-floor fire.

De Jager says the blaze started on the exterior below a second-storey window and is believed to have been caused by roofers making repairs earlier in the day.

He says the damage is estimated to be around $90,000.
