U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) says its agents in Canada don’t carry guns.

ICE has offices in Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary and Ottawa ahead of the FIFA World Cup games. Toronto city council has voted to oppose any ICE presence at FIFA games in the city.

An ICE spokesperson says personnel from its Homeland Security Investigations branch work with Canadian partners on joint investigations involving narcotics, weapons smuggling and human trafficking.

A spokesperson for federal Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree recently said ICE has no authority or jurisdiction on Canadian soil.
