Emily Vukovic checked out four different spots in the York Durham Headwaters region with Destination Ontario for some winter fun.

Her first stop took her ice fishing on Lake Simcoe at Floyd Hales Fish Huts in Beaverton. There are 40 modern fish huts each with a capacity of four to six guests, and Bombardier Buses available to take you to your hut to enjoy a day of trying to catch Lake Trout and Perch.

Next, Emily went to The Shortis|s Cafe Bar to try their cruffins and newest creation- The Halo. Along with a variety of baked goods, they also offer gourmet coffee and tea, and craft beer and cocktails. They are also serving up a maple syrup latte, and if you are in Brock Township the weekend of April 11th & 12th, you need to visit the Sunderland Maple Syrup Festival.

If ice fishing isn’t your vibe, but yoga and glamping is, then make sure to book a stay at Birchwood Luxury Camping on Scugog Island. Enjoy a peaceful stay in a dome and check out the local shops and restaurants on Port Perry’s main street.

The last stop for Emily was at 8 Bit Beans on the historic 4 corners of Whitby. The café and gaming lounge is a great place to have fun by playing in the arcade or checking out one of the fun events they host.

Whether you want to be outside enjoying the winter weather, or inside eating and drinking, there is so much to see and do in York Durham Headwaters.
