The 2019 Golden Globe nominations were announced Thursday morning and Canadians Sandra Oh, Jim Carrey, and Stephan James were among those who received the honours.
The nominations were presented by Christian Slater, Danai Gurira, Terry Crews, and Leslie Mann.
Some of the most talked about films of the year including A Star Is Born, Crazy Rich Asians, and Bohemian Rhapsody received nominations in multiple categories.
Meher Tanta, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, announced that a new lifetime achievement award would be presented at the Jan. 6 ceremony.
She said the award would be the television version of the Cecil B. DeMille award – the annual award which celebrates outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment.
The new unnamed award will be the first to honour the same contributions in television.
The Golden Globes are closely watched as the precursor to the Oscar’s, and often predict which films will be nominated for Hollywood’s prestigious Academy Awards.
