Child, 4, in hospital after being bitten by dog in downtown Hamilton

A four-year-old child is in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after being bitten by a dog Tuesday in downtown Hamilton.

Hamilton police say it happened around 2 p.m. at the intersection of Jackson and Caroline streets.

Officers say the child was bit in the lower arm area and transported to hospital.

No charges have been laid and no information about the dog has been provided at this time.

Animal Services attended the scene to assist police with their investigation, which remains ongoing.
