Police continue search for missing toddler, adult after deadly Brampton fire

Peel Regional Police and fire officials are set to provide an update Monday at noon, after a deadly fire in Brampton.

The fire started Thursday morning at a home in the area of McLaughlin and Remembrance roads, where 11 people were believed to be living.

A toddler and an adult are still missing.

The remains of one person was recovered from what’s left of the home on Friday.

Two adults were pronounced dead the morning of the fire, while four other people — including a five-year-old — were taken to hospital in critical condition.

As of Friday, one injured adult was in critical condition, and the others were reportedly stable.

Officers posted on X after 4 p.m. Sunday that they would hold a joint media update at noon on Monday.

Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown says the city had been trying to reach the home’s absentee landlord for what’s been described as a “concerning building inspection history”.
