OTTAWA — An 18-year-old suspect is facing a murder charge in Ottawa after a fatal stabbing in the city’s west end on Monday evening.

Ottawa police say officers rushed to the 2900 block of Penny Drive around 6:45 p.m. and found a 43-year-old man with life-threatening injuries.

The Ottawa Paramedic Service says the victim was in critical condition with stab wounds.

Paramedic spokesperson Marc-Antoine Deschamps says first responders tried to stabilize the man at the scene and during his transport to get emergency medical treatment.

But police say the man succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Police say there is no risk to public safety and they are asking anyone with information that might help the investigation to come forward.
