Longtime donors give $1M to Burlington Community Foundation in daughter’s honour

The Burlington Community Foundation says it has received a $1 million donation from longtime supporters Ralph and Susan Sgro.
The residents from Burlington made the donation in honour of their daughter Lindsay, who died in 2024 at the age of 44.
The donation will support the newly created Lindsay’s Loves Fund, with the goal of supporting children and youth with access to art programming.
The fund will also support what the group is calling the “well-being for families and children.”
The Sgros, retired owners of McDonald’s restaurants in Burlington and Waterdown — whose son Ryan is the current owner — have been supporters of the foundation since 2007.
“We are honoured to receive this gift from the Sgro family and partner with them to honour the legacy of their beloved daughter, Lindsay,” said Megan Tregunno, the CEO of the Foundation.
“Thanks to their generosity, numerous children will benefit from access to activities that Lindsay loved.”
The fund is expected to provide its first grant later this month.
