The Canadian National Railway (CN) says around 24 rail cars and a locomotive went off the rails Friday morning in Paris, but luckily remained upright.
Ontario Provincial Police say the derailment happened at around 6 a.m. in the area of Railway Street.
Officers say the derailment happened on the railway line between Oak Park Road and Market Street.
CN says there were no injuries, leaks, spills or fires and the cause of the derailment is being investigated.
VIA Rail says the incident halted its passenger trains, which normally use the line, saying it is causing significant service disruptions.
Rail traffic near Brantford has been completely halted due to the derailment.
