New West Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Grimsby to open in late October

The new West Lincoln Memorial Hospital being built in Grimsby is scheduled to open around Oct. 27, with substantial project completion close to July 21.
Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) said in a release that construction for the new hospital is steadily progressing and it plans to begin final preparations to officially open when significant completion happens.
The project to build the new hospital broke ground back in May 2022, with the Ontario government investing millions of dollars to expand hospital infrastructure.
“The new West Lincoln Memorial Hospital is a testament to the dedication of our community,” said Tracey MacArthur, president and CEO with HHS.
“Together, we’ve built more than a hospital – we’ve built a future for local, high quality care that will serve generations to come.”
HHS says following substantial completion, it will move equipment and supplies into the building and train staff and physicians on new technology over 13 weeks.
The process will allow them to familiarize themselves with the space before patients move into the building.
“The new West Lincoln Memorial Hospital is a major step forward for health care in West Niagara,” said Bruce Squires, vice-president of Women’s and Children’s Health at HHS.
“This modern facility will give staff and physicians the space, tools, and technology they need to continue delivering exceptional care to a growing community.”
The new hospital will be almost 80 per cent larger than the existing facility.
