House of Commons to drop COVID-19 vaccine mandate for MPs, staff, visitors

The House of Commons has unanimously decided to drop COVID-19 vaccine mandates in the House next week.

All MPs, staff and visitors in the parliamentary precinct will no longer need to show proof of vaccination starting Monday.

However, everyone must wear a mask until June 23.

Earlier this week, the federal government said it will also suspend vaccine mandates for domestic and outbound international flights and rail travel starting Monday.

But the mayors of border cities want relief at land-border crossings too, demanding an immediate end to the ArriveCan app.

The app forces everyone driving into Canada to submit their vaccination status to the border agency ahead of time – and mayors say it is deterring many visitors.
