A win for CNN.
A federal judge in Washington has ordered the White House to return the press credentials of CNN reporter Jim Acosta.
U.S. District Court Judge Timothy Kelly announced his decision Friday morning.
Kelly is a Trump appointee.
“I want to thank all of my colleagues in the press who supported us this week and I want to thank the judge for the decision he made today and let’s go back to work,” Acosta said Friday.
The White House revoked Acosta’s credentials last week, following a tense exchange with President Donald Trump.
CNN had asked that his credentials be returned while a lawsuit over their revocation goes forward.
Acosta is the network’s chief White House correspondent.
He has repeatedly clashed with Trump and press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders over the last two years.
