Fire destroys abandoned home

An abandoned house along the lakeshore near Beamsville has gone up in flames.

Firefighters were called to 4128 Lakeshore Road around 2 a.m. — and it took several hours to bring the fire under control.   Tanker trucks were needed to relay water to the home.

There was little that could be done to save the building, which police say had been empty for over a year.

There’s no word on the cost of the damage.
