al-Qaeda militants killed in Yemen

55 al-Qaeda militants have been killed in air strikes on training camp.

According to Yemen’s interior ministry, the militants were killed in an hours-long series of strikes on a training camp operated in the country’s south.

While the identification process is continuing, a statement today said 3 senior members were among those killed.

The operation, which started yesterday and is believed to have involved U.S. drones, targeted a sprawling training camp of al-Qaeda in the mountains of Mahfad.

Security officials said the camp’s infrastructure was destroyed.
