Aaron Hernandez murder trial conflict

Lawyers of former New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez don’t see any reason why the judge assigned to his case should step aside.

Hernandez is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Odin Lloyd.

Prosecutors say that Judge Susan Garsh is biased and has a “history of antagonism” with lead prosecutor William McCauley.

The conflict allegedly stems from a murder trial in 2010, when McCauley won a conviction, but criticized the judge in the media. He accused Garsh of hostile treatment, and excluding evidence.

Hernandez’s attorneys say the bias charges are unsupported. They will be discussed in a hearing on Monday.
