Ariel Castro dead

The man who held three women captive in his home in Cleveland for more than a decade has killed himself in prison.

Corrections officials found 53-year-old Ariel Castro hanging in his cell last night. It was just over a month ago that he was sentenced to life in prison plus a thousand years for kidnapping and raping the three women he held hostage.

Officials say Castro was checked every 30 minutes in his cell, but he was not under a suicide watch.
