Wheat Board sues

The Board of Directors at the Canadian Wheat Board are taking legal action against the federal government.

The lawsuit claims the government broke the law when it introduced legislation last week to take away the board’s monopoly on western grain sales.

The board says the government was obliged to hold a plebiscite among affected farmers.

Last summer, almost 40,000 producers took part in one, with 62% voting in favour of keeping the monopoly.
