Ontario reports 481 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday

Ontario is reporting 481 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday and one more death related to the virus.

Health Minister Christine Elliott says 292 of the infected people are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status. She says 189 of the cases are in fully vaccinated people.

The data is based on 18,965 tests completed on the previous day.

There are 139 patients in intensive care due to COVID-related critical illness, including 82 people on ventilators.

The province says a total of more than 22.7 million doses of a COVID-19 vaccine have been administered.

Elliott says 88.8 per cent of Ontarians aged 12 and older have received one dose and 85.6 per cent have two doses.

At least one of the province’s 626 long-term care homes currently has a COVID-19 outbreak declared at the facility.

An active COVID-19 outbreak indicates that the home has at least one lab-confirmed case of COVID-19 (in resident or staff) and the local public health unit or the home has declared an outbreak.
