Teen struck by a vehicle in Ancaster on Sunday in a coma, family says

The girl who was struck by a vehicle while riding her skateboard in Ancaster on Sunday has a long road to recovery, her family says.

Isabella Brink-Read, who goes by Bella, was in the area of Old Mohawk Rd. Sunday night when she was hit.

The 15-year-old was taken to hospital in critical condition.

Her cousin has started a GoFundMe campaign to help the family with various expenses.

“She was rushed to the hospital and has been in and out of surgeries to relieve pressure on her brain, among other injuries (including a broken pelvis and vertebrae),” says the fundraising page.

The family tells CHCH News Bella likes art, her pets, outdoor adventures and skateboarding. She loves her friends and is well-liked by her peers.

She is close to her mom, dad and siblings and has a big family rooting for her.

Hamilton police’s Collision Reconstruction Unit has taken over the investigation.
