Father and son stop car theft

A father and son stopped two people from stealing their van in downtown Hamilton.

It happened around 3 Thursday morning near Grant Avenue and Delaware Avenue. Witnesses say a man and a woman used a rock to smash into the van, and were trying to hot wire it. That’s when the owner and his son, armed with a hockey stick, confronted them and stopped them from getting away.

Both suspects are now in custody. One thief has been treated for a head injury, and the van’s owner hurt his hand.
