McGuinty promises to expand GO Transit

Liberal leader Dalton McGuinty is promising to expand “GO Transit” if his government is re-elected.

Speaking to the Toronto Board of Trade Monday morning, he says his plan includes making service “all-day” on all corridors.

The tab for laying new track, expanding stations and increasing capacity in parking could reach $6.8 billion.

McGuinty says the investment is necessary, because 45,000 people an hour use the service on a weekday morning.

If those people drove to work, he estimates the GTA would need to build four more Gardiner expressways and four new Don Valley Parkways to accommodate the extra vehicles.
