Extreme winds cause destruction

Winds reached speeds of 100 kilometres per hour on Monday night, causing extensive damage and power outages from Windsor to Kingston.

Powerful winds brought down part of a roof and battered light airplanes at the Burlington Airpark.

In hamilton, a renovation at the former James Street Baptist Church, near James and Hunter Streets, was disrupted when a massive stained glass window came crashing down onto a car in an alley below.

Construction material and debris was blown off the old federal building which is a condo project at Main and Caroline.
