Local veterinarians are reacting to this story too with one vet saying she was left in tears after seeing the footage.

“Here is a person who has been educated to know better. Has the trust of clients and has taken the trust and abused that trust.” Elizabeth McGill Martindale Animal Clinic.

Dr. McGill say her clinic has no ties to Dr.Rehki but this case makes the entire profession look bad. She is also concerned about the employees that worked at Skyway Animal Clinic.

“You have younger staff seeing that sort of stuff. You have a professional saying that it is ok, so I worry about what he has taught younger people.”

At the Martinadale Animal Clinic clients are encouraged to be with their pets during their visit. It’s the same open door policy at St. Catharines Animal Hospital.

“I prefer to do it in front of the clients because sometimes with clients around it gives more relaxation.” Bassem Boctor, St. Catharines Animal Hospital.

Dr.Bassem Boctor has been running his hospital since 2013. He says clients should check reviews online before choosing a vet. Dr.McGill says her practice is drafting a letter to the College of Veternarians of Ontario calling for stiffer penalties. Owners who suspect their pets are being abused can also file a written complaint to the association.
