Niagara police investigating after body found in Lake Ontario

Police are investigating after a body was recovered from Lake Ontario in Niagara on the Lake Tuesday.

Niagara Regional Police Service say they received a call around 1:15 p.m. from the person who found a body in the water during a boat ride.

The Marine Unit responded to the scene east of the Welland Canal and around 500 metres offshore.

Police say the body of a man was recovered and transported to Canadian Coast Guard Station in St. Catharines.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call 905-688-4111, extension 1024233.
