Video updated: CHCH and other television stations from across Canada are in Ottawa today lobbying to preserve the Local Programming Improvement Fund.

The fund takes money from cable and satellite companies and distributes it to television stations that broadcast locally-produced programming.

The CRTC has been exploring the idea of ending the program, which is largely responsible for saving canada’s local television stations, local newscasts and thousands of jobs.

More than 15-thousand chch viewers completed a survey earlier this year on our website that helped us prepare for today’s presentation.

Representatives from CHCH and our parent company Channel Zero spoke about the important role the fund continues to play at our station.
