Gaza blockade spurs Hamilton demonstration

First Published:

The Greek coast guard has seized a Canadian ship bound for Gaza.

The ship carrying at least 30 Canadians left a Greek port Monday.

No one on board was injured, and no shots were fired.
The ship was one of several vessels aiming to breach Israel’s naval blockade of Gaza strip, and deliver aid to activists.
While the Harper government has criticized the flotilla, the Canadians on board the ship are calling on Ottawa to denounce what they view as an unlawful act by the Greek government – a sentiment echoed by a protest late Monday afternoon in front of the federal building on Bay Street, by Hamilton Coalition to Stop the War.
